The very recent addition of a brand new 4-nm Dimensity 9000 SoC which is a proper flagship chipset and the first to be design using TSMC’s 4nm process, is brilliant and does very well in benchmarks beating even high-end chipsets. I think the Dimensity 9000 is a pretty incredible new launch from Mediatek for sure. The Mediatek Dimensity 9000 soc is definitely the top chipset of the brand in 5G at the moment. Mediatek has always put special focus on the gaming needs of its users with new innovations and technology that they put into their chipset. With the Dimensity 9000 also, the same is true for sure. In true flagship fashion, the chipset is the first mobile chipset to be built on TSMC’s 4nm process and uses Arm’s new version 9 architecture.

People underestimate MediaTek a lot I know, but I think the brand has improved immensely, especially in the last couple of years. Mediatek is one of the fastest growing organisations in the world, with its chipsets powering over 1.5 billion devices throughout a year. Various smartphones belonging to well-known brands are powered by MediaTek chips. These include- OPPO, Realme, Vivo, LG and many others. Now these are reputed and well established brands that are willingly using mediatek as their choice of processor to power devices they are manufacturing. So, I don’t think we should dismiss before we try it for ourselves.

As for the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 SoC, the chipset integrates a 10-core Arm Mali-G710 GPU and has a total of six fifth-generation APU cores for AI processing. To further elaborate, the chipset uses the new Armv9 architecture CPUs that includes one Arm Cortex-X2 at 3.05GHz frequency, three Arm Cortex-A710 with up to 2.85GHz frequency, and four Arm Cortex-A510 CPUs. The chipset also comes with LPDDR5x 7500Mbps support. MediaTek Dimensity 9000 SoC includes the latest ARM Mali-G710 graphics processor.

Apart from the gaming support, Mediatek’s new flagship chipset also integrates a new 18-bit Imagiq Gen 7 ISP that claims to be the world’s first to capture a 320-megapixel image. In terms of connectivity, the flagship chipset also offers support for Bluetooth 5.3 standard, Wi-Fi 6E 2×2, Wireless Stereo Audio, and Beidou III-B1 C GNSS support. The mentioned flagship 18-bit HDR-ISP design allows for HDR video capture on three cameras simultaneously. The new six-core fifth-generation AI processing unit is said to bring up to 4x power efficiency upgrade when compared to the last generation. This goes to show that the Dimensity 9000 will not only be greatly competent in gaming functions but also overall functions.

Other features of the flagship chipset include support for full-HD+ display with 180Hz refresh rate. The Dimensity 9000 integrates the only 5G smartphone modem with 3GPP Release-16 standard technology into the chip. It features an integrated 5G modem that offers up to 7Gbps in the downlink, 3CC Carrier Aggregation (300MHz), and up to 300 percent faster uplink performance. The chipset also claims to bring industry first raytracing SDK using Vulkan for Android. I think it won’t be a stretch to say that the Dimensity 9000 is the top 5G flagship chip at the moment and I am looking forward to see what else Mediatek plans to come up with in the future.
